People v. McCarthy. 09PDJ100. January 4, 2010. Attorney Regulation. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved a Conditional Admission of Misconduct submitted by the parties and suspended Paul B. McCarthy (Attorney Registration No. 23912) from the practice of law for a period of sixty days, effective January 4, 2010. On June 12, 2009, the Supreme Court of Rhode Island suspended Respondent from the practice of law for two months after it found he violated their ethical rules 4.1 and 8.4(c). Respondent had traveled to the State of New Jersey cognizant of the fact that he is not authorized to act as a notary public in that state; directed a third party to falsely sign another’s name to a mortgage and notarized that signature; and falsely identified the date and location of the real estate closing. His misconduct therefore constituted grounds for the imposition of reciprocal discipline pursuant to C.R.C.P. 251.21(d).
