People v. Makepeace, No. GC96A150, GC97A94, and GC98A73, 7/6/99. Attorney Regulation. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge accepted the parties’ Amended Conditional Admission of Misconduct suspending respondent, John Tyler Makepeace, from the practice of law for one year, with all but thirty days of the suspension stayed followed by a two year probation subject to certain conditions. Respondent failed to adequately prepare for a hearing, failed to file appropriate pleadings, failed to keep a client reasonably informed, failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to the client, and misled a client as to the actions performed by him in violation of Colo. RPC 1.1, Colo. RPC 1.3, Colo. RPC 1.4(a), Colo. RCP 8.4(a), Colo. RPC 8.4(c), and Colo. RPC 1.4(b). Respondent was ordered to pay restitution and costs of the disciplinary proceeding.
