People v. Randall G. Lawrence. 17PDJ076. November 13, 2017. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved the parties’ conditional admission of misconduct in this reciprocal discipline matter and suspended Randall G. Lawrence (attorney registration number 17669) for two years, effective November 13, 2017. To be reinstated after his suspension, Lawrence will bear the burden of proving by clear and convincing evidence that he has been rehabilitated, has complied with disciplinary orders and rules, and is fit to practice law.

On May 31, 2017, Lawrence’s license to practice law in New York was suspended for a period of two years. The suspension was based on Lawrence’s stipulation to the following misconduct: converting to his own use down payment funds that had been entrusted to him as a fiduciary in three real estate transactions; failing to properly designate a checking account as an attorney escrow, trust, or special account; failing to issue withdrawals by check to a named payee; and taking an unsecured loan from a client without memorializing the terms.

Lawrence’s misconduct constitutes grounds for reciprocal discipline under C.R.C.P. 251.5 and 251.21, which calls for imposition of the same discipline as that imposed in New York.
