People v. Richard Randall Kuritz. 17PDJ016. March 14, 2017. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved the parties’ conditional admission of misconduct in this reciprocal discipline matter and suspended Richard Randall Kuritz (attorney registration number 26499) for ninety-one days, effective March 14, 2017. Kuritz’s reinstatement in Colorado is conditioned on his reinstatement from his suspension in Florida.
On January 25, 2007, the Florida Supreme Court publicly reprimanded Kuritz, but he failed to report the reprimand to Colorado disciplinary authorities, as he was required to do. On August 25, 2016, the Florida Supreme Court suspended Kuritz from the practice of law for ninety-one days. That suspension was based on his actions while representing a defendant in a death penalty case. Kuritz violated three Florida rules, including those governing candor toward the tribunal and communication with jurors.
Kuritz’s misconduct constitutes grounds for reciprocal discipline under C.R.C.P. 251.5 and 251.21, which calls for imposition of the same discipline as that imposed in Florida.
