People v. John Fitzgerald Kennedy. 22PDJ063. May 4, 2023.

The Presiding Disciplinary Judge entered summary judgment in this reciprocal discipline matter and disbarred John Fitzgerald Kennedy (attorney registration number 19291). Kennedy’s disbarment took effect July 31, 2023.

This reciprocal discipline case arose out of discipline imposed on Kennedy in the District of Columbia. On August 25, 2022, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals issued an order disbarring Kennedy from the practice of law for “intentional misappropriation, among other violations of the District of Columbia Rules of Professional Conduct, in connection with the litigation and settlement of a collective action during which his firm took 67% of the settlement award as attorney’s fees without client authorization.”

Kennedy thus engaged in conduct constituting grounds for reciprocal discipline under C.R.C.P. 242.21, which calls for imposition of the same discipline as that imposed in the District of Columbia.

The case file is public per C.R.C.P. 242.41(a).
