People v. Fenili. 06PDJ056. July 21, 2006. Attorney Regulation. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved a Conditional Admission of Misconduct submitted by the parties and publicly censured Respondent Mary Louise Fenili (Attorney Registration No. 17432) on July 21, 2006. Respondent worked for the University of Colorado at Denver for 18 years and has not actively engaged in the practice of law since June 1982. She served as an Assistant Vice Chancellor with the university in the Academic and Student Affairs Department. An audit completed by the university concluded that Respondent and her boss manipulated payment systems in order to pay a retiring employee additional funds. Respondent had no personal relationship with the employee and did not personally benefit from her misconduct. On March 13, 2006, Respondent pled guilty to a Class 2 misdemeanor, first-degree official misconduct, C.R.S. §18-8-404. In return for her guilty plea, the district attorney dismissed embezzlement and conspiracy felony charges. Respondent’s misconduct constituted grounds for the imposition of discipline pursuant to C.R.C.P. 251.5 and violated Colo. RPC 8.4(b).
