People v. George L. Farmer. 16PDJ064. August 22, 2016. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge publicly censured George L. Farmer (attorney registration number 30492) on August 22, 2016.

In 2012, the Supreme Court of New Jersey publicly censured Farmer for misconduct that occurred during a fee dispute with an expert witness. The expert sued Farmer for his fees, and Farmer counterclaimed for his legal fees. Farmer brought his clients, for whom the expert provided services, into the suit as third-party defendants when Farmer was a party to the case. The Supreme Court of New Jersey concluded that Farmer violated N.J. RPC 1.7(a) (a lawyer shall not represent a client where there is a concurrent conflict of interest). Farmer never reported his public censure to the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel. His failure to report this discipline violated Colo. RPC 3.4(c) (a lawyer shall not knowingly disobey an obligation under the rules of a tribunal).

The Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel sought the same discipline as that imposed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey under C.R.C.P. 251.21(e), and Farmer did not challenge the order of the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
