People v. Detlefs. 10PDJ043. September 27, 2010. Attorney Regulation. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved a Conditional Admission of Misconduct submitted by the parties and suspended Jeffrey S. Detlefs (Attorney Registration No. 10457) from the practice of law for a period of three years, effective September 27, 2010. On August 16, 2009, Respondent consumed alcohol, then while driving with his children in the vehicle, struck a bicyclist at 65 miles per hour, causing serious injury to the bicyclist. He initially returned to the scene of the accident but then drove home where police officers awaited him. Respondent pled guilty to Vehicular Assault, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Bodily Injury, and Child Abuse on January 7, 2010. His misconduct constituted grounds for the imposition of discipline pursuant to C.R.C.P. 251.5 and violated Colo. RPC 8.4(b) and C.R.C.P. 251.5(b).
