People v. Gregory Chernushin. 15PDJ019. July 2, 2015. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved the parties’ conditional admission of misconduct and disbarred Gregory Chernushin (Attorney Registration Number 12204) from the practice of law, effective July 2, 2015.

Chernushin received settlement funds for eight clients, who all had liens with a company that financed their medical treatments. Chernushin signed the liens and retained copies of them in his files, but he failed to pay the company from the clients’ settlement funds. Instead, he converted those funds, totaling over $224,000.00, to his own personal use in violation of Colo. RPC 8.4(c) (a lawyer shall not engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation).

Further, in four matters Chernushin represented plaintiffs in personal injury or worker’s compensation cases. He received settlement proceeds in these cases but never forwarded his clients their settlement funds, thereby violating Colo. RPC 8.4(c).
