People v. Scott B. Blumenfeld. 15PDJ005. January 14, 2015. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge suspended Scott B. Blumenfeld (Attorney Registration Number 44345) for six months, with reinstatement conditioned upon Blumenfeld’s reinstatement from an indefinite suspension imposed in Maryland. The suspension took effect January 14, 2015.
The Supreme Court of Maryland indefinitely suspended Blumenfeld, with the right to apply for reinstatement no earlier than six months from the effective date of his suspension. Blumenfeld was suspended for failing to supervise non-lawyers, splitting fees, failing to maintain unearned client funds in a trust account, and failing to keep proper trust account records, including client ledgers, from January 1, 2010, until October 31, 2012.
The Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel sought the same discipline as that imposed by the Supreme Court of Maryland, with the requirement that Blumenfeld petition for reinstatement in Colorado.
Blumenfeld’s misconduct in Maryland constitutes grounds for the imposition of reciprocal discipline in Colorado pursuant to C.R.C.P. 251.21(e).
