People v. Gabriel Stefu. 14PDJ103. January 15, 2015. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved the parties’ conditional admission of misconduct and suspended Gabriel Stefu (Attorney Registration Number 34616) for two years, no less than sixty days served, with the requirement that Stefu successfully complete his probation in his criminal case before seeking reinstatement. The suspension took effect January 15, 2015.

On October 22, 2013, Stefu was arrested in connection with an incident involving domestic violence. He entered a plea of guilty to a class-six felony of conspiracy to commit felony menacing in Adams County District Court on August 29, 2014. Although much of the conduct underlying the criminal charges is controverted, Stefu admits that he pushed his wife down onto a couch and placed his hand on his mother-in-law during an argument with her. Stefu was sentenced to two years of probation, ordered to perform forty-eight hours of community service, and assessed charges and fees.

Through this misconduct, Stefu violated Colo. RPC 8.4(b) (a lawyer shall not commit a criminal act that reflects adversely on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer in other respects).
