People v. Sladek. 10PDJ117 (consolidated with 11PDJ059, 11PDJ080, and 12PDJ030). August 16, 2012. Attorney Regulation. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved a Conditional Admission of Misconduct submitted by the parties and suspended Dennis James Sladek (Attorney Registration Number 17303), for thirty months, effective August 15, 2012, with the requirement of restitution. While his law license was suspended, Sladek knowingly engaged in the practice of law in three client matters and attempted to practice law on behalf of a fourth client. Sladek solicited business from one of these clients telephonically for pecuniary gain, and he did not complete the work for which he was hired in two matters. In three instances, Sladek did not provide his clients with a written accounting of the fees he claimed to have earned nor did he provide a written statement of the basis of his rate or fee. Finally, Sladek failed to place in trust unearned fees from one of his clients. His misconduct constitutes grounds for the imposition of discipline pursuant to C.R.C.P. 251.5 and violated Colo. RPC 1.2(a), 1.3, 1.5(b), 3.4(c), 5.5(a)(1)-(2), 7.3(a), 8.4(a) & (c)-(d), and 1.15(a), (c), & (j).
